ABOUT

Mt. Vernon Primitive Baptist Church was founded by Brother L.B. Hordge and Mother Maggie R. Hordge in 1979.  From 1995 - 2024, Elder Alonza Gamble served as the Pastor of the congregation. In December 2024, Pastor Larry B. Hordge Sr. became Pastor of the congregation.



Mt. Vernon Church has been the home to many members in the Tampa Bay community and beyond.  At Mt. Vernon it is our mission to help our members understand, live by and uplift the word of God.  As a Primitive Baptist based church we believe in praying, worshipping and preaching the Old and New Testament of the Holy Bible.  We engage in actual baptisms, communion foot washings and praises with instruments. 



Mt. Vernon is also a member of the National Primitive Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.  as an affiliate of the East Florida District Primitive Baptist Association (Click Here to Follow EFDPB FaceBook Page). 



Our members range in age and our members come from all walks of life. At Mt. Vernon we invite you join us in building a relationship with Christ.

As the leaders of Mt. Vernon Primitive Baptist Church, Elder Larry B. Hordge Sr. and Mother Patricia Hordge have served as dedicated servants to the Lord. Their consistency and commitment has proven to be the key principles contributing to the solid foundation of our church and congregation.
